Privacy policy

1. Who we are

Ex Back is made by Ariel, an individual developer based in Ubud, Bali, Indonesia. For any privacy question or request, email [email protected].

2. The short version

Ex Back has no account and no sign-in, shows no ads, and contains no analytics or tracking. Everything you write in the app is stored on your phone and is never sent to us. The only data the app sends is the information needed to process and verify your purchase.

3. What stays on your device

Your questionnaire answers (including what happened in the breakup, whether there was violence or fear, and how you are feeling), your plan and progress, your daily mood check-ins, your Decide-stage answers and your unsent messages are saved only in the app’s storage on your device. They are never sent to us or to anyone else, and we cannot see, read or recover them. If you have turned on your phone’s own backup (iCloud or Google), your phone may include this app data in that backup, under Apple’s or Google’s terms. You can delete it at any time in Settings, Clear my data, or by deleting the app.

4. Purchases

The full plan is a one-time in-app purchase. Payment is handled directly by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play); we never receive your card or bank details. The app checks purchase ownership through Apple StoreKit or Google Play Billing, restores purchases from the same store account, and updates access when the store reports a refund or revocation. Purchase verification happens on your device. We do not send receipts or purchase identifiers to our own servers or to a separate purchase-verification service. Apple and Google process payments and keep purchase records under their own privacy policies.

5. Reminders

If you turn on the daily reminder, it is scheduled by your phone itself. Nothing is sent to us or to any server. The notification only says “Today’s step is ready.” and never mentions your ex. You can turn it off in Settings or in your phone’s notification settings.

6. What we don’t do

We do not sell or share your data for advertising, we do not track you across other apps or websites, we do not use analytics or crash-reporting tools, and the app loads no fonts, images or scripts from other servers.

7. How long we keep data

Data on your device is kept until you clear it or delete the app. Apple and Google retain store purchase records under their own policies. Clearing your app data does not delete or refund a store purchase; you can restore it using the same store account.

8. Your choices and rights

You can delete your on-device answers, progress and notes in Settings, Clear my data. For questions about this app or your privacy rights, email [email protected]. Requests concerning your store account or payment records should also be directed to Apple or Google. Depending on where you live, you may have further privacy rights, including the right to complain to a data protection authority.

9. Wellbeing information

The mood check-ins and the breakup questions are personal notes that help the app shape your plan. Ex Back is not a medical device and does not diagnose or treat any condition. Because this information never leaves your device, keep your phone locked if you share it with others.

10. Security

Purchase communication is handled by Apple’s and Google’s store services. The app verifies Apple-signed transactions or Google-signed purchase data before granting access. Data on your device is protected by your device’s own security, such as its passcode.

11. Age

Ex Back is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly process data from anyone younger.

12. Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will appear in the app and at https://exback.nostalore.com/privacy/, with a new date at the top.
